I was born in the Heart of Dixie in Montgomery, Alabama. I've never lived further north than Birmingham, Alabama... never lived further east than Athens, Georgia... never lived further west than New Orleans, Louisiana and never lived further south than Miami, Florida. In other words, I'm southern born and bred! :)  Though I'd like to visit other places across America, there's no place like the south, for me!
When I was 12 years old I became a Christian and have never regretted that decision. I've struggled, fallen short and missed the mark many times over the years but God is loving and forgiving, and plenteous in mercy. As the beloved old hymn says, "my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness." With all of life's sorrows, struggles and trials, I CLING to the sure hope of eternal life. There is such a peace in knowing I am in His hands and there is nothing that can separate me from God's love and care.

I love Alabama but really enjoyed living on the Florida Gulf Coast for most of the past decade. Maybe one day after our children are all grown and on their own, we'll move back to the Florida panhandle and live at the coast again. For now, we are living in southern Alabama and it's not a far drive to the beach when we get the hankering to go!

As far as my philosophy goes I am a traditional, conservative minded person who espouses conservative values and principles. I am deeply concerned about the things going on in our nation today and believe that if we would turn back to the principles upon which our founding fathers established this nation, we would all be so much better off. From time to time this blog will get quite political, depending on what is going on in our nation.

I'm the mother of 5 wonderful kids. Our oldest two are married and our third born is in his early 20s trying to figure out what direction he wants to go in his life. The two babies are still at home. Hannah is a senior in high school so she will be going off to college in a few months. She's a softball player and has received a full softball scholarship at a st junior college so we have at least another couple of years of softball ahead of us. She started playing when she was 8 yrs old so we've spent a lot of hours on the hot dusty ball fields!

Katelyn, the baby is 13 now and finishing up in middle school. It's hard to believe she'll be in high school in a few months. Where has the time gone? This year she went out for cheerleader for the first time ever, and made it! She enjoys cheering so hopefully we will have a few years of cheering ahead!
Katelyn, my little flyer!
All five kids have loved and excelled in sports so it's been fun supporting them  in their endeavors over the years. By the time we are done 'playing' with all our kids, hopefully we'll have some grandchildren coming along who will love sports. Being at a ball field of some sort has become a way of life for us!
Some of my interests and things I enjoy in no particular order:
